Works will commence next week on the ground floor of the Moree Community Library from Wednesday 13 September 2017. It is anticipated that library services will be affected until Saturday 7 October 2017, unless delays are encountered obtaining materials for the works.

The works are funded by the NSW State Library on behalf of the NSW Government as part of the Public Library Infrastructure Grant program which will allocate $15 million over four years to enhance library services and facilities across New South Wales.

The works include the development of vibrant and accessible places and spaces within the Moree Community Library including improved access to the lift, new circulation desk, redesigned floor layout and new shelving arrangements for the collection.

Regional Library Manager Sally Walters said the library was continually evolving to meet the needs of the community.

“We’re excited to be able to continue on this journey with assistance from this grant,” Ms Walters said.

“A modern library service consists not only of books on shelves; it also provides access to vibrant and engaging spaces for people.

“This funding will enable the library to develop collaborative study spaces, an e-zone, a new customer service desk and flexible floor space within the library.”

General Manager, Mr Lester Rodgers said, “This is a great opportunity for Moree Community Library and I thank our community members in advance for their patience during the works period.”
