Attention to all aspiring entrepreneurs, small business owners and local event organisers in the Moree Plains!

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information - Council Meetings

Community Update 5

Council’s next Ordinary Meeting was scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 26 March 2020. (Our Finance and Governance Committee meeting was also scheduled for tomorrow.

Our next meeting thereafter is scheduled for Thursday 23 April 2020, taking account of the impending Easter break.

This week, NSW councils have been working with the Office of Local Government in relation to meeting arrangements to ensure that essential services continue to be delivered during these challenging times.

To ensure compliance with the social distancing requirements as announced last night by the Prime Minister, tomorrow’s Council and Committee meetings are cancelled and the business proposed to be determined has been deferred.

Last night, NSW Parliament passed the COVID-19 Legislation Amendment (Emergency Measures) Bill 2020 including amendments to the Local Government Act to allow councils to hold official meetings electronically instead of physically. As such, extraordinary meetings of Council are now capable of taking place remotely.

Please be assured that urgent business will be able to be dealt with and recording of any such meeting will be available through our website.
