Border Rivers Residents Invited to Comment on Flood Plain
Residents along the Border Rivers Valley floodplain (to the north of Moree Plains Shire) are invited to make comment on the draft Border Rivers Valley Floodplain Management Plan.
Moree Plains Shire Council’s Director of Planning and Community Development Angus Witherby explained the Plan will provide clarity for landholders about where the flood works can be constructed, streamline the approval process and manage the passage of floodwater to minimise the risks and damage.
“People living in the affected area should review the Plan as it outlines the types of flood works that may be considered for approval including roads, infrastructure protection works, supply channels and stock refuges.”
You can view the Border Rivers Valley Floodplain Management Plan at the Goondiwindi Regional Council, Boomi Swimming Pool, Boggabilla post office, Mungindi CTC and Library or head online to the Department of Industry site http://www.water.nsw.gov.au/water-management/floodplain-management/border-rivers
The exhibition period will run until 9 March 2018.
