Clean Up Australia Day – 4 March

Moree Plains Shire Council is encouraging locals to lend a helping hand for Clean Up Australia Day with efforts for this year being focussed along the Mehi River from Dr Hollingsworth Bridge (Edward Street) to Dr Hunter Bridge (main town bridge) and towards to the Albert Street Bridge.

Environment and Compliance Assistant Elisha Bridge explained Council is proud to support Clean Up Australia Day every year.

“Clean Up Australia Day is one of the ways Council works with the community to make our public spaces rubbish-free and more appealing for everyone.”

“We encourage residents to take the opportunity to be part of the national initiative by donning a pair of gloves, a hat and lending a hand,” said Mrs Bridge.

“Afterward, there will be a barbeque and beverages to thank our wonderful volunteers.”

Moree Plains Shire Council spend a lot of time and money on rubbish collection each financial year, and the costs associated with picking up litter from roadsides to the clearing of illegal dumping is ever increasing.

“Every pair of hands makes a difference! So grab some friends and meet us at the Tourist Information carpark at 9am on Sunday 4 March.”
