Airport Security
The Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 came into effect following the 9/11 events. The Australian Government introduced changes to the aviation security arrangements at Australian airports, dependent on a number of factors including aircraft types and passenger numbers. The impact on Moree Regional Airport included the installation of full perimeter fencing and CCTV as well as a number of other inclusions. Council has been notified that security screening upgrades are to be introduced by the end of 2019 and more information will be made available to the community as this information develops.
Moree Airport Master Plan 2015
Moree Plains Shire Council commissioned Rehbein Airport Consulting to review the previous Airport Master Plan and in 2015 the latest Plan was adopted by Council. The Master Plan establishes a framework for the future development of the airport and addresses the existing airport activities as well as opportunities for growth in aviation.
The Master Plan also sets out short, medium and long term proposals for aeronautical and non-aeronautical development within the airport land and identifies opportunities for adjacent airport related development.
