Applications open for the Event Partnership Program

Have you got a brilliant idea for an exciting new event for the Moree Plains? Council would love to hear about it!

Building on the incredible success of last year’s inaugural Event Partnership Program which saw the delivery of events such as Run the Plains and the Young Aggies Future Focus Forum, Council is pleased to announce that the 2025 Program is open for applications, with a total of $20,000 available.

Submit your application before the deadline on Sunday 27 April 2025 at 11:59pm.

Moree Plains Shire Artesian Complexes

Moree Plains Shire is rich with the flow of artesian water. The Moree Plains Shire has three pool complexes for relaxing and rejuvenating, located in Moree, Mungindi and Boomi.

A part of the Great Artesian Drive! Artesian water is a ‘must’ experience!

Mungindi Pool 

Take a well-earned rest and rejuvenate at the Mungindi Municipal pools.

The Mungindi artesian mineral pool offers users a tranquil environment to sit back and enjoy the warm soothing mineral-rich water. The constant flow of the naturally filtered water allows for a deep muscle soak.

The complex also offers a 33m cold pool and a kiddy’s pool, shade, and plenty of grass to lay and enjoy the complex, with amenities, change rooms and showers

Mungindi is uniquely straddled on the News South Wales and Queensland border. Located 120km northwest of Moree on the Carnarvon Highway.

Opening hours vary with the seasons:

  • Entry is $5.00 for adults $3.00 for concessions and children
  • Winter season - Monday to Saturday: 7.30 am – 12.00 pm and Sunday: 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm
  • Summer season - Monday to Saturday 9am - 6pm (closed between 2pm - 3pm), Sunday 10am - 2pm - 3pm to 6pm

Note: Summer hours commence on the last Monday in September and finish on the last Sunday in April. 

Boomi Pool

Boomi Artesian Baths Complex

The Boomi Artesian Baths complex provides a place for fun, fitness and recreation offering pools to enjoy the warm mineral-rich artesian water or to cool off, swim laps and enjoy water play. The complex is operated by the community of Boomi and is a smoke-free premise.
It operates all year round with opening times changed to reflect the seasons.

The Baths boast:

  • Artesian Soak Pool with massage water spouts surrounded by relaxing deck chairs and shade cover.
  • Kiddie’s paddle pool with underwater characters.
  • 25m lap pool with four lanes with undercover shade at one end. 
  • All-weather protection - there is plenty of shady seating and all-weather amenities in the complex.
  • The kiosk offers a range of snacks, beverages and food.
  • Accessibility – The artesian pool has steps and a handrail leading into the pool. There are accessible change rooms with toilets and showers. Mobility parking for permit holders is at the front of the premises.
  • Parking – ample parking for buses, RVs, truck and trailer combinations and passenger, vehicles, particularly as there is a caravan park next door.
  • Entry is $6.00 for adults and $5.00 for concessions, $4.00 for children
  • Winter season business hours are Monday - Sunday: 9.00 am – 12.00 pm and 2.00pm – 5.00pm
