Herbicide Spraying Program

To ensure the maintenance of our parks, gardens, reserves, playgrounds, sports fields, verges, nature strips, and open spaces, the Council will undertake selective herbicide spraying throughout the Shire to control weeds as required and as weather conditions dictate. Notice will be given via the Council’s Website, Facebook, or local radio (98.3 FM, 107.1 FM, and 1530 AM).

Our Customer service standard aims to complete the following;

  • Sportsfields and Reserves will be sign-posted prior to spraying
  • Reserves with Playground areas will be sign-posted prior to spraying
  • Roadside Furniture
  • Education Centres, Nursing Homes, Community Health Centres, and Kindergartens will be contacted in writing 48 hours before spraying

Pesticide Use Notification Plan Policy

This Pesticide Use Notification Plan Policy has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Pesticides Regulation 2009 (the regulation). Pesticides (e.g Herbicides) are used by the Council to control noxious weeds and other undesirable vegetation on roadsides and other public lands under Council jurisdiction.
Pesticides (e.g. insecticides, rodenticides) are used periodically to treat white ant and insect/vermin problems in our buildings and other structures.
