Easter Public Holidays

Easter is rapidly approaching and although celebrating together is not currently an option, the Easter public holidays are a perfect opportunity to enjoy a relaxing time at home in the Moree Plains.
For the Easter long weekend (beginning Friday 10 April 2020 to Monday 13 April 2020), the following changes to services and facilities should be noted:
Unless otherwise set out below, Council’s services and facilities will operate as usual.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

As of Wednesday 25 March 2020, Council’s Moree Customer Service stopped all face-to-face services. All enquiries can be addressed over the phone by calling (02) 6757 3222 or by email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. During the public holiday period, community members can continue to contact Council 24 hours a day on (02) 6757 3222 for our after-hours’ telephone service.

WASTE SERVICES

Kerbside Garbage, Recycling and Organics Collection

Residents are advised that kerbside garbage, recycling and organics collections will operate as usual on Friday 10 April 2020 and Monday 13 April 2020.

Landfill (Biniguy, Boggabilla, Boomi, Garah, Mungindi, Terry Hie Hie and Moree Waste Management Facility)

The Shire’s landfill facilities will operate as detailed below:

PUBLIC TOILETS

The public toilets located on Balo Street remain open; all other public toilets are closed, until further notice.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

Gwydir Day Care and Preschool

Gwydir Day Care and Preschool will be closed on Friday 10 April 2020 and Monday 13 April 2020.

Tourism Moree

Tourism Moree visitor centre will be closed from Friday 10 April 2020 and reopen on Tuesday 14 April 2020.

Water Filling Station, Moree Depot, Tycannah Street

Council’s Depot, including the Water Filling Station, will be closed on Friday 10 April 2020 and reopen on Tuesday 14 April 2020.

Ranger Services

Please contact our after-hours’ service on (02) 6757 3222 to access Ranger Services or the Moree Pound from Friday 10 April 2020 until Monday 13 April 2020.

Moree Regional Airport

Moree Regional Airport will operate as usual.

Bank Art Museum Moree

The Bank Art Museum Moree is closed until further notice.

Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre | Boomi Pool | Mungindi Pool

All Shire Pools are closed until further notice.

Library Services and Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre

The Moree Community Library, Mungindi CTC and Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre are closed until further notice.
