International Women's Day - Accelerate Action
Council would like to recognise all the women of the Moree Plains this International Women’s Day.
Today, we celebrate the women who are making a difference in local government, from our Mayor Cr Susannah Pearse to our five female Councillors Cr Hodgkinson, Cr James, Cr Cassells, Cr Sauer and Cr Willams. Our interim General Manager Natalia Cowley to the 113 female employees Council employs in a diversity of roles who contribute to our Shire’s development and progress.
Women play a variety of crucial roles in local government, we recognise all the women who sit on committees or advocate for the Moree Plains using their voices to bring about change, your work is creating a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous future for us all.
Women’s leadership, passion and determination remind us that progress is not only possible, it is already happening.
Let's continue supporting, uplifting and amplifying women's voices in politics, governance and more broadly the Moree Plains Shire.
The 2025 theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Accelerate Action’
Focusing on the need to Accelerate Action emphasises the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.
