Bushfire Prone

To enable identification of bushfire prone areas within Moree Plains Shire, NSW Rural Fire Service have produced the Moree Plains LGA.  This Map was developed by analysing factors such as vegetation type and patterns of existing development.

If your property is bushfire prone and you are intending to develop, Council will provide you with information and guidelines relating to your property and what measures need to be taken to enable your development to proceed.

These requirements are also set out in the guideline, Planning for Bushfire Protection which is available from the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Development Control Plan

The Moree Plains Development Control Plan (DCP) 2013 chapter 9 – Rural Development addresses various aspects of rural development including biodiversity, bushfire management, recreational vehicles, feedlots, access to rural properties and dwelling development.

This chapter supports Moree Plains Local Environmental Plan 2011 by providing additional detail and guidance on addressing bushfire management issues.
