Moree Community Library Reopening Tuesday 9 June

The Moree Community Library will reopen to members on Tuesday 9 June 2020, following the NSW Government's announcement last Wednesday to ease restrictions for cultural institutions and libraries.

The library will operate under the new guidelines outlined by NSW Health to ensure community members and staff remain safe while visiting and accessing library resources.

Big Sky Libraries Manager, Sally Walters has highlighted some operational changes visitors will notice at the library.

“While we are excited to be reopening the Moree Community Library on Tuesday 9 June, certain changes have been made to our operational procedures due to the current COVID-19 climate.

“The library will only be open to members who upon entry must register their attendance at the front counter for the purposes of contract tracing (this includes children), and at the present time, access will be to resources on the ground floor only. Resources located on level one will be available on request.

“Initially, the Moree Community Library will only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-3pm with increased cleaning and no face-to-face programing provided. Opening hours will be reviewed on a regular basis as we endeavour to slowly return to our usual business hours and services.

“Members are also encouraged to use the self-service kiosk to borrow items and renew their loans.

“Visitors will also notice various signs reminding them to social distance; this includes floor stickers that help members keep a 1.5m distance when queuing, using computers or browsing our collections,” said Mrs Walters.

The Moree Community Library has also introduced the following conditions of entry aligning with the NSW Health protocols for safe operations in the COVID-19 environment:

  • exclusion of staff and visitors who are unwell
  • limiting the number of guests (currently 10 onsite at any time)
  • limited number of PCs available for 30min booking per Member/day
  • returns will be subject to a quarantine period of at least 24 hours.

Members are asked to continue to use the external chute for all return items.

Call and collect and home delivery will continue to operate in conjunction with the library opening.
