Australia Day Long Weekend Events and Services
This Sunday, join us at Jellicoe Park from 8.00am for the Moree Plains’ Australia Day celebrations.
Proudly sponsored by Council and brought to you by the Lions Club, this event brings together the Moree Plains’ community to celebrate our local Australia Day Award recipients, welcome new Australian Citizens and catch up over a free breakfast BBQ.
As well as the announcement of the Moree Plains’ Australia Day Awards and a Citizenship Ceremony, we welcome our Australia Day ambassador, Clyde Campbell, and look forward to hearing from him.
Mr Campbell is the founder of Shake It Up Australia; a Foundation established after the father of three and business owner was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2009 at the age of 44. Shake It Up has partnered with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research to fund the world’s best research in Australia targeted at finding better treatments and ultimately a cure.
As Australia Day is a national public holiday, Council would also like to advise all residents of the following changes to services and facilities over the long weekend beginning Saturday 25 January 2020 to Monday 27 January 2020. Unless otherwise set out below, Council’s services and facilities (including our Customer Service Centre in Moree) will operate as usual over this period.
You can continue to contact Council 24 hours a day on (02) 6757 3222 for our after hours telephone service, including on public holidays.
