A warm welcome to our new General Manager, Nick Tobin

Moree Plains Shire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Nick Tobin as its General Manager for a period of 12 months.

Mr Tobin has over 30 years of experience in local government at a senior level, with his most recent experience as General Manager at Hunters Hill Council and Willoughby City Council.

“Moree Plains Shire Council has been lucky enough to have Nick with us in the role of Acting General Manager for the past few months,” said Mayor Mark Johnson.

“The leadership, courage and wealth of knowledge Nick brings to the table is truly exciting for Council as an organisation and for the community, as we gear up for a big few years in the Moree Plains.

“Nick’s breadth in experience from securing and delivering major infrastructure projects, to strengthening organisational cultures, through to financially sustainable strategic planning is exactly what the Council needs over the next 12 months.

“I would like to congratulate Nick on his appointment, and my fellow Councillors and I are confident Nick’s passion, energy and acumen will be of great benefit to the Moree Plains” added Mayor Johnson.

Newly appointed General Manager Nick Tobin is ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work.

“I love getting out and about and meeting with staff, stakeholders and the community. In the few months I’ve been here, I’ve been impressed by what the Council has achieved in recent years and the dedication within the broader community to working towards a vibrant, cohesive and sustainable future.

“I look forward to building on past work to ensure we are in a stronger and better-resourced position as we prepare for transformational economic and social growth across the Shire.

“I’d like to thank Councillors, staff and community for the warm welcome and for providing me this fantastic opportunity,” added Mr Tobin.

On Thursday 21 July 2022, Council resolved to appoint Nick Tobin as General Manager for 12 months following an external recruitment process.
