Council Services and Facilities for the Christmas Holidays
Council would like to inform the Moree Plains community of the following services and facilities’ operating hours for the Christmas period, Saturday 23 December 2023 to Monday 1 January 2024.
Unless otherwise noted below, Council’s services and facilities, including the Moree Customer Service Centre, will operate as normal until 5pm Friday 22 December 2023.
Services and facilities will recommence as usual from Tuesday 2 January 2024.
Waste Services
Please be advised kerbside garbage and recycling collections will be as normal.

- Closed 23 December 2023 - 7 January 2024.
Gwydir Daycare and Preschool
- Closed from 5 pm Thursday 14 December 2023 and reopening at 7:45 am on Monday 8 January 2024
Moree Community Library
- Closed from 5pm Friday 22 December and are reopening at 10am Tuesday 2 January 2024
Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre
- Closed from 5pm Friday 22 December and are reopening at 10am Tuesday 2 January 2024
Moree Regional Airport
- Will operate as usual
Moree Tourism
- Open 9 am to 1 pm on Sunday 24 December 2024
- Closed and reopening from 9 am to 1 pm on Wednesday 27 December 2023 to Sunday 9 January 2024
- The Visitor’s Centre is open the 9 am to 1 pm public holiday on Monday 2 January 2024
Ranger Services
- Please call the after-hours service on 6757 3222 to access Ranger Services for emergencies
Water Filling Station (Maude Street, near Council depot)
- Will continue to be available 24/7.
Pool Complexes
Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre (MAAC)
Open times:
- Mondays to Fridays (6am – 7pm)
- Saturday and Sunday (8am – 6pm)
- Christmas Eve (8am -5pm)
- New Years Eve (6am -5pm)
- New Years Day (10am to 5pm
- Closed Christmas and Boxing Day
Mungindi Municipal Pool
Open times:
- Mondays and Thursdays (6:30 am – 1 pm; 3 pm – 6 pm)
- Tuesdays (2 pm – 6 pm)
- Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays (9 am – 2 pm; 3 pm – 6 pm)
- Sundays (10 am – 2 pm; 3 pm – 6 pm)
- Only closed on Christmas Day

Boomi Artesian Baths
