Boil Water Alert and Water Restrictions Lifted for Mungindi

Council is pleased to inform the Mungindi community that the recent boil water alert and level 2 water restrictions are now lifted.

Council, in close collaboration with NSW Health and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), have been working together to ensure the safe and reliable supply of drinking water.

Following thorough testing, including the flushing of water mains and subsequent water sample analysis, all results from the Mungindi Water Treatment Plant and the town mains meet the required standards of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. Both NSW Health and DCCEEW have confirmed that the water is now safe for consumption and the boil water alert and the water restrictions can now be lifted as of Friday 7 February 2025.

“We are pleased that the water quality has returned to safe levels, and we appreciate the community’s understanding as we worked with health and environmental experts to resolve the issue,” said General Manager Natalia Cowley.

Council will continue our regular monitoring of Mungindi’s water to ensure water compliance. If your home has been un-occupied the last two weeks, we recommend that occupants flush their internal water lines by turning on taps to ensure that the clean water is coming through.

We would like to thank Balonne Shire Council and our Local Mungindi Depot staff for their assistance with having bottled water for the community, due the boil water restrictions being lifted water is no longer available for collection.
