Do I need an agricultural vehicle permit?

You may need to apply for a Class 1 agricultural vehicle permit if your agricultural vehicle or agricultural combination does not comply with mass, dimension or operating requirements set out in a gazette notice.

The NHVR processes Class 1 agricultural vehicle permit applications through the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Portal. This is for travel within and between the following states and territories: Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria, including our shire roads.

For travel within the Northern Territory and Western Australia, you need to apply directly to the relevant state or territory road transport authority.
